Takahashi (立川, Tachikawa) is the lead boxer of the school that are rivals of Suekichi's. Knowing that he will be fighting Matsuo, and that Matsuo just antagonized his subordinate Itou and his friends, Takahashi begins to beat Suekichi up, until Yusuke takes control of Matsuo again, and tells him to back off until the match, where Suekichi will beat him.
On the match day, after Yusuke's scolding about Matsuo's lack of faith in his abilities, Matsuo gains newfound courage and defeats Takahashi in the ring, by himself.
