Kujou (九浄 Kujō?) is one of Raizen's former friends and training partners, and the fraternal older twin brother of Natsume (exclusive to the anime). After Raizen's death, he allied with Yusuke and participated in the Demon World Tournament.

Appearance[]

Kujou has a lean and muscular build. He has yellow eyes and his navy blue hair tends to stand on end. In the Demon World Tournament, Kujou wore a dark sleeveless shirt along with matching pants. He also wore bandages wrapped around his wrists down to his forearm. In the manga, his spikes are much shorter, and he has a much less distinctive face, giving him a rather generic appearance.

Personality[]

At first, Kujou seemed to be somewhat cocky as seen in his battle with Touya, telling the ice master he knows humans with more power than him. However, Kujou later displayed that he is a sportsmanlike fighter, saving Touya before he fell into the lake and allowing himself to be weakened by Touya's ice so he could fight with him on an even level. He was shown shaking hands with the ice master later. In the manga he shows a much more mocking, belittling personality, especially towards Chu.

Synopsis[]

Three Kings Saga[]

Raizen friends ep104 (YYH) 1

All Raizen's Friends gathered for the Demon World Tournament.

Kujou is an Upper S Class Demon who used to be friends with Raizen. He competes in the Demon World Tournament along with his sister and friends/allies (i.e. Enki, Kokou, Saizou, Shu, Den-Hou, Natsume, Tetsuzan, Souketsu and Yusuke).

Touya Kujou ep107 (YYH) 1

Touya vs. Kujou.

He ends up fighting Touya in the tournament. Touya puts up a good fight (partially because Touya drains him of some of his Demon Energy). However, in the end, Touya ultimately loses the fight. He later defeats Enki's wife Kokou and wins the B block, but is beaten by Saizou, another friend of Raizen.

Later he is seen talking to his sister, who had been training Chu, asking her how he is doing. She tells him that Chu is indeed getting stronger all the time and it is entirely possible for him to become as strong as her. Kujou then asks her if she will go out with him then, which she replies to with a sharp no. Kujou proceeds to mock Chu, whom Natsume quickly defends, saying that no one knows what the future holds. Surprised by this remark, Kujou quietly agrees with her.

Powers and Abilities[]

Although not much of Kujou was seen in battle, it can be assumed he is extremely powerful, since he is an Upper S Class demon and a former sparring partner of Raizen. In the Demon World Tournament, he was powerful enough to defeat the improved S Class Touya, even with diminished Demon energy. Even so, Yomi said all of Raizen's Friends were a match for him. Even so, all of Raizen's old friends were out of practice, as stated by Enki.

Known Techniques/Moves[]

Kujou ep107 (YYH) 1c

Kujou's Energy Blast.

  • Energy Blast: Kujou uses a special pose to gather yellow demon energy with red lightning in his two hands and send it towards his opponent. This yellow blast travels a long distance, creating explosions in its path.
  • Energy Concealment: It is the ability to control and reduce the latent energy of a user, which can be attained after intense training, seclusion and if the user is an adept martial artist. Kujou proved to have great power within himself when he and Raizen's Friends released their true powers, thus proving their excitement to enter the Demon World Tournament.
  • Flight: This is a special ability where the user manipulates their Energy so that they can levitate or fly.
  • Super Speed: During the Three Kings Saga, it becomes a more common technique among users, used for more advanced movement and dodging, and as a base for other movement techniques with all types of Energy.

Trivia[]

  • Kujou's appearance is similar to that of Tekken's Kazuya Mishima, who has black hair (greyish blue in the 1997 anime movie) swept into a spike at the back of his head.
  • Kujou's own Energy Blast version is very similar to Dragon Ball's Kamehameha, since it is also formed when cupped hands are drawn to the user's side and energy is concentrated into a single point. Both hands are then thrust forward to shoot out a streaming, magnificent beam of energy.
  • In the English dub, Kujo is mistakenly referred to as Kuju.
