This is the last episode where Kuwabara uses the Trial Sword; the side effect Suzuki warned him about comes into play in the Chapter Black Saga Arc, where it helps evolve Kuwabara's weapon into a Dimension Sword.
Another look is given into Sakyo's mind; he is a nihilist, only gambling for a thrill. As "money loses its mystery", he decided to bet his life on Toguro's victory; if he loses, Team Urameshi gets the win.
Sakyo's attitude towards his family is drastically changed in the English dub, where he claims to have hated them for living honestly and raising proper families of their own, even going so far to claim that if he ever fell in line with their white collar ways, he'd commit suicide. In the Japanese dub, Sakyo remembers his family quite fondly without any grievances and blames himself for turning to criminality while they became civil servants.
In the manga, Elder Toguro points out that Kuwabara is fatigued from using Spirit Shards, but in the anime, Kuwabara is not that fatigued.
The armored demon with horns who asks "What's Sakyo doing out there?" has a distortion added to his voice in the Blu-ray English version. Curiously, his first appearance in "Suzuki's Challenge" keeps his voice normal.
