The Preliminaries is the eleventh episode of season 4 of YuYu Hakusho. It aired on October 29, 1994 in Japan and February 11, 2006 in the United States.

Yusuke arrives for the competition, meeting Kurama, Hiei, Yomi, Mukuro, and a host of former competitors from the Dark Tournament. In the preliminary matches, the aforementioned combatants easily advance.

- During his group match, Yusuke briefly makes a Virtua Fighter win pose during the preliminaries for the Demon World Tournament. His appearance becomes blocky like the game's characters as well.
