The Promise! (約束!!, Yakusoku!!) is the 7th chapter of the Yu Yu Hakusho manga series, written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi.
Summary[]
Botan and Yusuke visited his school. There they saw Kazuma and his friend being scolded by Akashi for getting into yet another fight. As Okuba was given special permission to work, he decided to strip him from the permission, but since it was important for Okubo to work and support his family, Kazuma wanted to take all the blame. Akashi then decided to overlook it, if for one week neither of them get in a fight, thinking they won't be able to do it and that will break their trust into each other. Kazuma agreed and told his friend to stay at home, while he later took on a beating from some guys, but didn't fight back.
On the next day Akashi revealed his second condition that they also need to score above 50% in their test in 6 days, or he will take Okubo's permission to work. As days passed, Kazuma was being beaten often, but he was focusing on not fighting back and studying and on the day of the test he got barely over 50%. Seeing that Akashi erased one of his answer to lower his score to under 50%. Learning what Akashi did, Kazuma wanted to punch him, but was stopped by Yusuke. Principal Takenaka then came revealing he saw it all and scolded Akashi and let Okubo keep his permission to work.
